Road Safety

Every year, our Year 6 children have the opportunity to take part in a Bikeability Road Safety Week, earning themselves certificates and ensuring they can be safe on the road when cycling.

Raising Awareness on how to keep safe in the real world

The term 'Stranger Danger' is now largely considered to be misleading, although it is still linked with educating children on how to keep themselves safe when they are out and about in the real world. Clever Never Goes! is a newer initiative which supports parents and carers to talk with their child about not going somewhere with an adult when it doesn't feel right. It moves away from implying that all strangers are dangerous which can result in children fearing everyone beyond their family.

Here is a Kent Police presentation on 'Stranger Danger'.

Protecting your child from Radicalisation

The 'Let's Talk about It' website has some excellent resources and information on spotting the signs of radicalisation. With children spending more time online recently, this does unfortunately increase the risk of radicalisers taking advantage to further their cause. Click here for an information leaflet about how parents and carers can reduce the risk of their child being negatively influenced by extremists.
